What is Yosippaya

A creative space where a child’s imagination finds its voice.

This is what Yosi built. Yosippaya makes storybooks that a child does not simply read. Every book carries a story, thinking cues that ask something of the reader, and activities woven into the pages: mazes, spot-the-difference puzzles and word games, alongside ruled pages the child fills in themselves.

The idea is simple. Most books ask to be received. Ours ask to be answered. A child who finishes a Yosippaya book has not just read a story; they have solved something, chosen something, and written something of their own.

What each story is quietly teaching

Every title is built around a developmental thread, so a parent knows what a story is doing as well as what it says.

There are books and activity sets for ages 3–5, 6+, 9+, 12+, and open-ended titles that suit any age at all.

Inside the Cloud Club

Some thoughts are too big, too quiet, or too tangled for plain words. But stories know how to speak them gently. When a child becomes a storyteller their inner world slowly opens up: their fears, their joy, their unspoken wishes, and even the feelings they have not yet learned to name.

Through storytelling children do not only create characters. They reveal who they are and how they see the world. That is the quiet magic behind Yosippaya, guided by our cloud friend Yosi, who sparks little minds and turns storytellers into Storyans.

Why Yosippaya matters

Imaginative writing unfolds the child within.

The science of imagination and play

A research-backed perspective on why play and storytelling matter in early development.

“It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative.” Donald Winnicott

Beyond imagination

Big outcomes from playful, story-first practice.

And it doesn’t stop with writing. Children narrate their own stories aloud, which is gentle, joyful exposure to an audience: it reduces stage fear, enhances expression and voice modulation as they “become” their characters, and builds self-assurance for public speaking long before a classroom presentation ever feels like one.

For every age, for every Storyan

Four seeds, four stages, one idea: imagination never ages out.

Meet Yosi

One cloud in Vaandom could imagine. The others only worked.

Far above the skies was Vaandom, a kingdom where clouds rumbled with thunder, raindrops practised their songs, and stars learned to twinkle. In one quiet corner sat Yosi, a fluffy cloud with a glowing head, sketching shapes and dreams while the other clouds bustled about their work.

Yosi could only imagine, and cherish that imagining. It was often left out, wishing there were a place where imagination and creativity mattered too.

Down to Earth

Carried by that wish, Yosi drifted down to Earth. Below, children held pencils and blank pages, bursting with bright, unusual ideas. Instead of applause, their stories were brushed aside and their doodles left unnoticed. Yosi’s heart ached, and it lost its glow. These children felt like him.

Seeds of imagination

With gentle hands, Yosi scattered magical seeds, the Yosingas. Wherever they landed, imagination bloomed: children’s eyes lit up, crayons danced, and their stories took flight. In that bright moment Yosi realised its gift was a purpose: to guard imagination and help every child dream. And Yosi got back its glow.

How Yosi sparks the imagination

Yosi doesn’t tell whole stories. It sprinkles Yosingas, tiny story seeds that spark an idea and then get out of the way, nudging a child toward a world of their own instead of handing them one.

Each prompt is a small invitation: a shape, a feeling, a silly sound. Enough to unlock a first sentence and let a child’s imagination take it from there.

“Yoshay, Storyan! The story lives in you. I’m just here to help it bloom.”

The Creator

Meet the Creator: R. Sreelaxmi Anish

Every magical world begins with a dreamer. Behind Yosippaya stands R. Sreelaxmi Anish is a storyteller, a dream builder, and above all someone who believes that a child’s imagination is the strongest superpower in the world.

With a background in English Literature (B.A. and M.A.) and years of creative writing, storytelling and content creation behind her, Sreelaxmi has always been in love with words. Her stories have reached thousands of readers. But for her, stories have never been “just stories.” They are seeds of imagination, little sparks that grow into confidence, creativity and joy.

“I cannot travel the whole world, so I am creating a world of my own.” R. Sreelaxmi Anish

What I stand for

Yosippaya is more than a storytelling platform. It is a creative sanctuary, a place for open-ended storytelling, picture books for children, story starters, and tools that nurture imagination. It is her promise:

Because imagination is not just play. It is joy. It is resilience. It is the seed of empathy, innovation and confidence.

The spark that started it all

In the 8th standard, Sreelaxmi came up with a story so vivid it felt like her own secret universe. Without encouragement it was left unfinished, because storytelling was brushed aside as a “hobby,” and slowly the spark dimmed. That uncompleted story still lingers, a quiet reminder of how fragile imagination is when nobody nurtures it.

Years later the spark came back through her niece, Sri Nakshatra, known as Nakshu. Her mother shared a video of Nakshu, then three years old, flipping through a picture book of The Ant and the Grasshopper. She could not yet read, so she made up her own story from the pictures:

“The grasshopper woke up happily in the morning. Since there was no bathroom in the house, it wanted to bathe. So it went to the pond to swim!”

A simple moment, and a profound one. Nakshu was not repeating. She was not reciting. She was imagining. And it struck Sreelaxmi that she had once been that child, full of stories nobody preserved, and that she could not let the next generation lose theirs. On that day, Yosippaya was born.

Yosingas

Seeds of thought and imagination.

A Yosinga is what Yosi carries in its pouch and scatters over Earth. Inside a Yosippaya book it takes a form a child can hold: a story prompt, a thinking cue, a puzzle to solve, a path to choose, or a ruled page left deliberately blank.

The name carries the plea itself: please think, please imagine.

Story prompts, thinking cues and activities

Each book puts all three on the same page, so a child moves between reading and doing without noticing the join. They read a page, work something out, make a choice, and write or draw what happens next.

That is why the ranges exist. Finish the Tale, Choose the Path, Be the Protagonist and Be the Traveller each lean on a different way of drawing a child in, and new concepts join them as they are written.

What we stand for

At Yosippaya, we believe that imaginative kids grow into innovative adults.

That is why this is not a place to be told stories. It is a place to be sparked into telling your own. Every page here is a playground, every prompt is a thinking cue, and every idea is a story seed waiting for a child to plant it.

So come, Storyans. Flip the page, catch a spark, and let your imagination play.

The world I imagine

Through Yosi, I carry a dream of a world where stories and creativity always find a place to grow.

  • A world where no child’s imagination is ever too small.
  • A world where every doodle, daydream and half-finished story is cherished as a treasure.
  • A world where children can grow up and look back at the magical storyworlds they once created.

Because in the Yosippaya world, every heart has a story, and every story deserves to shine.

The books

Creative ways a Yosippaya book asks something of you.

Every book asks the reader to do something rather than sit still. What it asks is what tells the concepts apart.

Bespoke collaboration

Some Yosippaya books are made for one brand only.

We write and illustrate a story book around an organisation and what it wants a child to carry away. The child gets a book worth keeping. The brand gets the quietest kind of presence there is: a name a family sees every time the book comes off the shelf, with no advertising in it.
